Loaded Peanut Butter Cup Chocolate Cookies
These loaded peanut butter cup chocolate cookies are deliciously soft and chewy. Chocolate and peanut butter in three different forms – you can’t go wrong!
Talk about an over-the-top cookie! Complete with Reese’s Pieces, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips and a mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup smashed on top, these cookies are not for the faint of heart.
Personally, I loved them, but what’s not to love?
Peanut butter and chocolate are one of my favorite combos so I was sold when I first saw them on Cookie Madness.
The cookie itself is deliciously soft and chewy and the fun of biting into all the other chocolate and peanut butter goodness is worth the calories, I promise.
Loaded Peanut Butter Cup Chocolate Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup (227 g) butter, softened
- ¾ cup (191 g) peanut butter
- ¾ cup (159 g) white sugar
- ¾ cup (159 g) packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ⅓ cups (331 g) all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup (28 g) cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup (170 g) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup (170 g) peanut butter chips
- 1 cup Reese’s Pieces
- 1 package mini Reese’s peanut butter cups (see note)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl or stand mixer, cream together the butter, peanut butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine the flour, cocoa, and baking soda; stir into the peanut butter mixture. Mix in the chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and Reese’s Pieces (this is best done by hand so the shells of the Reese’s Pieces don’t get broken).
- Drop by tablespoonfuls onto cookie sheets lined with parchment paper or silpat liner. Push one peanut butter cup half into the center of each ball of dough.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes (I baked mine about 11 minutes). Let cool for 1 or 2 minutes on sheet before removing, or they will fall apart.

These were so good! I used the mini peanut butter cups from Trader Joes. Worked perfectly!
Would these work well frozen and baked later ? I want to give them as a gift.
Yes!
made these on Halloween. Everyone loved them. They are a new family favorite I will be making again and again.
These were fantastic! I didn’t have any reese’s pieces so I just used a whole bag of pb chips. I live at 8000 ft altitude so I cut the baking soda in half and added a little more flour. I also chilled the dough a little so they wouldn’t spread as much when baking, a problem I find at high altitude when there’s lots of butter in the recipe.
This recipe is incredible. I have 2 big boys (men) that work up in Northern Alberta. I send along a big pkg of these incredible cookies every so often. They’re a fan favourite with everyone they share them with. And when they head out camping with friends, I load them up for the whole crew. Thanks Mel!
OMG!! These are delicious. I used an ice cream scoop an baked some of them in a standard muffin pan with a whole Reese’s mini in the center. I had my own ‘cup’ shaped cookies.
Nita – I would suggest just using a chocolate chip cookie dough base (without the chocolate chips) and use the Reese’s peanut butter cups like in this recipe.
I’d really like to try these. They remind me of some wonderful cookies we bought at Chocolate World during our visit to Hershey ,PA. The only difference is their cookie was plain and not chocolate. Do you think I can omit the cocoa powder without having to change anything else? I’d like to try these but I also want to be make a plain cookie version. Thanks! 🙂
Im participating in the postcard project cookie swap and I’m definitely using one of your recipes but I can’t decide which one would ship best. Any suggestions?
An impressive share, I just given this onto a colleague who was doing
a little analysis on this. And he in fact bought me breakfast because
I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat!
But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to discuss this, I feel strongly
about it and love reading more on this topic. If possible, as you
become expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more details?
It is highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this blog post!
oh, Melanie! My seven year old son, and 21 and 23 year old sisters thank you from the bottom of their stuffed little hearts! And my apartment now smells divine. These were great to bake and put in little holiday bags for the pb/ chocolate gluttons in my life. :o) Thanks!
