White Peppermint Hot Chocolate
This white peppermint hot chocolate is magical. Creamy white hot chocolate with a touch of peppermint is sure to get rid of mid-winter blues!
I’ve professed my love of hot chocolate before, so it should be come as no surprise that it has grown by leaps and bounds now that we live in a frozen tundra where, for instance, this week the high (yes, the high) has not been above zero.
As I mentioned on Facebook, hot chocolate has been my best form of therapy.
This recent addition to my arsenal of hot chocolate recipes is astoundingly delicious.
Creamy white hot chocolate infused with a touch of peppermint is topped with an ethereal concoction of whipped cream and crushed peppermint candies.
Normally, I’d turn up my nose at white chocolate in favor of dark chocolate hot cocoa, but I’m telling you, this stuff is magical.
Mid-winter blues therapy has never tasted so good.
P.S. You are right in thinking my crushed peppermint whipped cream looks a bit, well, sorry. I had “helpers” in the kitchen this day and my then- 4-year old refused to whip the cream another second because he just could.not.wait for a mug of hot chocolate. So the whipped cream turned out a bit soupy and we didn’t care a bit as we slurped up the warm pepperminty chocolate goodness.

Hacked this genius recipe to make a peppermint white chocolate cocoa mix (loosely based on your dry mix that we make on repeat). 2 c. whole milk powder, 1/4 c. cornstarch, 1/4 tsp salt, 6 oz white chocolate, 1 1/2 c. Hershey white chocolate peppermint kisses. (I had a bag in the back of the pantry- how they didn’t get eaten I don’t know!) Food processed the whole thing and got creamy colored powder with red flecks- mixed up with hot milk, perfection! Lightly sweet (our preference) and peppermint-y enough, even without the extract. I love the convenience of having the mix in the cupboard… thanks, as always, for making our life sweeter and more delicious!
This is amazing, Rebecca – thanks for sharing!
OOOOOO
A couple of years ago I randomly decided to try ordering this at Starbucks because I can never finish an entire cup of regular hot chocolate. Sadly the rarely ever do it right (confusing it with white chocolate mocha or even giving me just steamed milk BLEH). I can’t wait to try this so I can FINALLY quench my craving. But I might do milk chocolate shavings/syrup on top with the whipped cream, it seems to add a nice contrast whenever Starbucks actually gets it right and then puts these on top. Yumm
It sounds AWESOME!
So, we had to try this today since it was -20. It was very good. I didn’t have any whipping cream, so everyone got a scoop of vanilla ice cream with peppermint candy sprinkles on top. There’s gotta be a silver lining for when the world is this cold. Thanks Mel!
I just bought a bunch of white chocolate bars on sale. 🙂 I’m gonna have to give this a try, it sounds fabulous!
my ranking in hot chocolate beverages is like this: chocolate < chocolate peppermint < white chocolate < white chocolate peppermint. i think your version sounds FANTASTIC.
this sounds so delish! I HEART ho-cho and this would be right up my alley 🙂 Love the part about your kids helping…..mine would do the same thing….such little helpers!
Hi Karen – thank you for the heads up. I just fixed the links!
Ohhh my! How I love peppermint hot chocolate! I even made a peppermint hot chocolate mix and gave it away for the holidays, it was absolutely rich and wonderful, but it used cocoa powder in the mix. I should try your white chocolate version next!
Mel, This is the time of year I sort through & re-organize all my recipe books. My binders are loaded with so many of your recipes. If I get an idea for something, I always go to your site first to ‘see what Mel says’. I just wanted to let you know (since I don’t comment often) how valuable your site is & how thankful I am that you share your gifts. 🙂

I’m in Tennessee so our milder weather does not compare to yours, but we had an ice storm last night. Hot chocolate sounds wonderful! I made your shrapnel dip yesterday and we loved it. I would eat it again for breakfast if any was left!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems the links to recipes from one year ago, two years ago and three years ago lead to incorrect recipes!!
I love this! I’ve never had white hot chocolate, but I bet it’s amazing!!
Oh Mel- you have been on my all week as we are in the midst of an artic blast. Our temps haven’t been above 20 degrees for the past four days, and I have been thinking about you and wondering how you manage in sub-zero weather! Seriously, I can’t get warm and am chilled to the bone everytime I step outside! I guess you get used to it, but I’m looking forward to Monday when it’s going to be a balmy 43 degrees here! This hot cocoa looks delicious and is just what I need today, as we are going to get some more snow this afternoon!
