Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Dip
Creamy, peanut buttery, and filled with nibbles of peanut butter cups and chocolate chips, this peanut butter cookie dough dip is delicious.
I happen to think sweet dips–slash–appetizers are brilliant. I mean, salsas and bean dips and spinach artichoke dips are everywhere, right? Every party. Always the same.
But sweet dips? They are so where it’s at or at least where I’m at. Yep, that’s me. Hunkered over the sweet dip at the party hoarding it to myself and showing off my awesome social skills.
It was just a matter of time before I figured out a version for peanut butter cookie dough.
I realize not everyone has peanut butter cookie dough on the brain but I’ll forgive you; we can still be friends, especially because this dip is so incredibly tasty.
Creamy, lightly peanut buttery, sweet and filled with nibbles of peanut butter cups and chocolate chips, this dip is highly delicious.
And here’s the deal (no scoffing, please), if you make this with light cream cheese and adhere to the 12 mini peanut butter cups (instead of throwing in the whole bag which I wasn’t tempted to do at all, uh-uh, not me, no never), it really isn’t that bad for you.
Now I’m not calling it health food so please, no hate mail, but you could get all crazy and dip apples in it for Pete’s sake, if that helps rationalize the making of it.
One of the boys’ favorite after-school snacks is apple slices dipped in peanut butter. This isn’t so different, right?
Right. So glad we had this talk. Happy weekend!

I am making this tonight to prepare for our New Years’ Eve dip extravaganza! I’m suddenly realizing that I’m not sure which size Reese’s… the miniature ones in a gold wrapper, or the unwrapped minis that are about the size of a dime (versus the others about a quarter size). Such uncertainty! Based on the pictures I’m thinking you used the gold wrapper miniatures, it I bought the minis. So I’m going to cut the little guys in half and use 24 instead of 12.
Sorry for the long delay in replying, Monica. Did it work out? I use the foil-wrapped mini ones. So not the mini-minis just the semi-minis. 🙂
can this be put in the fridge or should it be left out if i’m planning to bring this for the next night?
Cam – I would definitely refrigerate if it is overnight – maybe take it out an hour or so before to let it soften up nicely for serving.
O.M.G. This stuff is good! I’ve made a sweet pumpkin dip in the fall that everyone loves, but this is my first “cookie dough” dip. I’m thinking this will be popular all year round. Especially since dh’s favorite cookie of all time is peanut butter. our friends coming over for game night are in for a treat, indeed. Because I can’t resist playing around with a recipe, and our friends are trying to avoid cow’s milk, I made 2 half batches, using goat cheese instead of cream cheese and coconut milk for the second batch. There is no discernible difference in flavor. Thanks for the recipe!
I finally got the chance to make this dip for a cookout we attended last night, it was a HIT! Everyone loved it but I noticed the men going back to dip the most!! I couldn’t decide if it was better with pretzels or graham crackers…delicious:)
GREAT!
Words do not describe how delicious this was! I made it for a small gathering and I think I ate over half of it! My hubby loved it too, and he doesn’t like cream cheese!
Peanut butter chocolate chip cookies are my favorite. I love the added taste of peanut butter so I had to try this!
I will be making this again as soon as I have more cream cheese and pb cups in the house!
I made this twice this weekend for two different gatherings. It was a hit at both!
cookie dough dips can never be a bad thing. just the other day, i made peanut butter cookies and thought to myself that i’d rather eat that dough than chocolate chip cookie dough any day. bravo, mel!
Looks Amazing! Wow! I’m thinking Oreos need an appearance too. We firmly believe Oreos make everything better. Yum. You hit the home run with this one! Good job!
Mel, this looks irresistibly good! A must-make for my next party, for sure. Love it!
I’m not a big peanut butter fan but this looks amazing.
This looks out of this world! I’ve been craving peanut butter like its my job lately. I could seriously take a spoon to a bowl of this. No need for dippers!
I just want to point out that it’s also dairy. Dairy is definitely one of those things we should be eating/drinking, so yep this is good for you. I’m on your side.
This dip looks amazing!
Dessert dips are the greatest because you can eat a ton, and it’s just dip so it doesn’t count. This is the best ever!!
Ok… you’re a rock star.. I’m your biggest fan. Cannot wait to try this as family night sweet. BTW… for those like me who prefer dark choc pb cups… T.J.’s. OMS… This little piggy needs a graham cracker matress a ganache blanket…
Interesting take on the cookie dough concept, Mel! I have tossed so very many recipe failures over the last couple years, trying to make a great edible raw cookie dough (and finally succeeded, but it was painful. and expensive). But I never tried cream cheese as a base. Love it! And *ahem* naturally gluten free, for what it’s worth. 😉

This is making an appearance in my house this week! I mean, it IS health food, you said so 🙂
Goodness! My kids will flip for this! Is it bad that I’m thinking this will be the perfect make-ahead appetizer/snack for our beach trip this summer? Pack it in the cooler and it’s ready when we get there to snack on all week!
